THE JAPANESE POPSTARS::08/06::EGG NIGHTCLUB::LONDON-UNITED KINGDOM.

International rising stars keep populating Egg's DJ booths. This time around Egg presents... Northern Ireland act The Japanese Popstars to perform a DJ set and Italian Hotfinger's head honcho Luigi Rocca with the support of The Loops of Fury.

Filth & Splendour with Itch Records take over iin the Terrace

the Japanese Popstars are an electronic act from Derry, Northern Ireland, consisting of Declan McLaughlin aka Decky Hedrock, Gary Curran, and Gareth Donoghue. They signed to indie label, in 2007 to Gung-Ho Recordings (Gus Gus, Zoo Brazil) in the UK, and Beatink in Japan (home of Underworld, Aphex Twin, and Cinematic Orchestra) but in 2010 then moved to Virgin Records. Each member has his own alias. The act was nominated for "Best House DJs" at the 2006 World Urban Music Awards, "Best Live Performance" at the 2007 Northern Ireland Music Awards and won "Best Live Act" at the 2008 Irish Music Awards and then every year since (4 years in a row). They were also voted "Best Breakthrough Producers" at the DJ Mag Best Of British Awards 2008[citation needed], awarded "No.1 Dance Album" by Hotpress magazine, and won "Best Live Act" and "Best Album" at the 2009 Irish Music Awards.

The band have their very own brand of Nike trainers called JAPSTARS01. They have been referred to by people (particularly in Derry) as The Jappy Pops, Jap Pops, Popstars or The Japstars.

The Italian electronic scene has been bubbling ferociously lately with some incredible talent and none more so than Turin based Luigi Rocca. The self-made producer and global travelling DJ also runs three of the most exciting record labels to emerge from Italy in the past 10 years - Hotfingers, Tuamotu and 303Lovers - alongside Manuel De La Mare and Alex Kenji. An international DJ in his own right Luigi has managed to forge a successful career circumnavigating the world performing at some of the planets most renowned and best-loved parties, where his unrivalled dexterity behind the CDJs has led to repeat bookings throughout Europe, North and South America.

When the likes of Tiësto, Richie Hawtin, John Acquaviva, Bob Sinclar, Dubfire and the notoriously impenetrable territory of Chilean megastar Ricardo Villalobos have all supported your music, it is perhaps fair to say that your sound is something of a mystifying one to pigeonhole. In the case of Luigi Rocca that is exactly the problem many have had when attempting to label his myriad of releases from over the years. With a back catalogue that stretches well beyond 200 releases, Luigi (also known as Marshall) has managed to reach virtually every corner of the electronic musical spectrum that is humanly possible.

The Loops Of Fury are two Brisbane boys living in London, living up to their name by making big rave tracks and feeding them to the party till sweat rains down from the ceiling. Their list of supporters is impressive, getting play from tastemakers like 2ManyDJs, Amand Van Helden, Erol Alkan, Tiesto, The Bloody Beetroots and Annie Mac. But why stop there? The Loops have their eye on world domination.

"Hello my name is David, i DJ with my brother under the moniker of 2ManyDJs. We'd like to play ‘I Need' by the Loops of Fury tonight in Ibiza. We don't own this piece of music because it isn't out yet. Can we have it please?" [2ManyDJs / Soulwax]

Their debut single "Flick A Switch" hit the Top 3 on Beatport and spent no less than three months in the Top 100, leading to a succession of shows across their native Australia leaving moshpits quaking and foundations shaken.
